SAFETY CORNER
4 CARDINAL GUN SAFETY RULES
It is critical that you always follow these safety rules. Bad habits are hard to break, but these rules could save a life. Each of these rules start with an “always” for a reason.
- Always treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
- Note: Every time you pick up a firearm, check to see if it is loaded. Don’t trust anyone else that has checked it, check it yourself. Afterwards, still treat it as if is were loaded.
- Always point your firearm in a safe direction (unless defending yourself or others).
- Bottom Line: If your firearm discharges, you should not harm anyone and do minimal damage to property. If you are being attacked, then aiming your firearm at the assailant is the safest direction at that moment.
- Always keep your finger outside of the trigger guard until on target and ready to shoot.
- Better yet, put your trigger finger up on the frame when not shooting. Why? Because startle response or sympathetic response can cause you to unintentionally discharge your firearm.
- Always be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
- It doesn’t matter if you are at the range or defending yourself. Who or what will your bullet hit after passing through or missing your target?
Children & Firearms
Never assume any of the following:
- - That a child will not be able to find your firearm
- - Than young children will be able to tell the difference between a real and toy gun
- - That your child will not be able to pull the trigger or operate the slide
Storage of firearms in your home
You can be held responsible for not safely storing your firearms at home.
HANDGUN TACTICS COURSE
In May, I taught this course at Miami Rifle & Pistol (MR&P) Club. It was an absolute success in every respect. It started at 8:00 am and finished around 8:00 pm.
Contents:
Safety Briefing / Review of the Fundamentals / Drawing from a holster / Drawing from Concealment / Shooting While Moving / Multiple Target Engagement / Emergency & Tactical Reloading / Malfunction Clearing Drills / Instinctive Shooting / Point Shooting / Strong-and Weak-Hand Shooting / Shooting from Cover / Use of Deadly Force / and much more.
It was a fast-paced course with students shooting approximately 400 + rounds.
Interested?
To offer this course outside of MR&P, I need to locate a suitable location to conduct the course. A significant discount will be given to the person who assists me in finding a range / property for this course. Contact Joe @ jkalil1@insightbb.com for range requirements.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS
Be cautious about any candidate for office that states, “I support the Second Amendment.” To ensure that a candidate supports your right to own firearms and to carry concealed, you want them to say, “I support the individual’s right to keep and bear arms.”
Our right to keep and bear arms is not only a Constitutional right, but a God-given right.
You need to communicate your support of the 2nd Amendment (in its original intent) to your elected representatives at both the state and national level. Also, don’t forget to vote!
GUN RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS
I am often asked what organizations people should join to help defend their right to keep and bear arms. The following is what I suggest:
National:
- United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) – Join Now!
- GOA – Gun Owners of America
- NRA * (choose the magazine “America’s 1st Freedom”)
- CCRKBA – Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms
- SAF – Second Amendment Foundation
